Argh! Sorry. The dust is gathering, the cobwebs billowing in the corners, the mould starting to creep up the walls – I don’t think this blog has ever been quite so neglected. I’m absolutely fine (in case you read my last post and were wondering) just working rather relentlessly, pretty much 7 days a week, to meet a lengthy project deadline (nearly there). I’ve had a couple of brilliant days off and thankfully got out and about, but I seem to need a certain sort of home alone, quiet and relaxed time to sit down - without anything else nagging at or distracting me - to write anything meaningful or inspired. Seems I just haven’t had enough of those opportunities. I don’t know how others do it (nor how I ever did it in the past), do you have any tips?
Anyway, this is just to break the silence… and to push myself to be back in a more communicative
mode soon!
Hi C. Lovely to hear from you. You work so hard ! Give your self a break and return when you have the time and resource. Your muse will jump out and surprise you when you least expect it.

Ah, many thanks, Ben, and hi. It's not like I have an important or responsible job, but it's that self-employment trap... Thank so much for your kind words, I hope to be back more frequently soon (and just hope I'm in when the muse jumps out!) Hope all's well with you too.
DeleteShe's back!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you here again C
I know you have been commenting on posts but glad you are back writing.
Thanks CC, I've been quite neglectful on the commenting front too but I do read them and I'm so glad everyone else's blogs are there! Will try harder in the coming weeks, once I've finished this job especially.
DeleteWelcome back, C, good to hear from you in any capacity. although I'd be less concerned about the dust and cobwebs and more about the roof, judging by the photo! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've just about managed to maintain a daily post for a year and a bit so far. It's "easier' in as much as mine is predominantly about the music I enjoy, with a little bit of life story occasionally chucked in. I'm never short of ideas, though the execution and music choices may often leave a lot to be desired!
The only way it really works for me is to draft the posts when Clan K are asleep in bed, i.e. either late at night or very early in the morning. Sometimes that itself is a bit of a challenge, but I have fun doing it. As soon as it stops being fun, I'll slow down or stop.
Thank you Khayem, I do rather like the look of that room (there's something about abandoned and dilapidated buildings which is very appealing!) but probably not when it's raining...
DeleteI'm constantly impressed by you and other daily bloggers (e.g. CC above too) for managing not only to have new ideas, but having the energy and discipline to put your posts together so well. With your daily mixes and all the information you share (as well as the life story bits) I'm full of admiration!
I seemed to have a lot more inspiration and drive a few years ago than I do now so maybe I'm just running out of steam, but I keep hoping it will return. (Wish I could do the late night thing too but I'm usually the first to bed!)
So glad to know you still find it fun, that really has to be the main thing - long may it continue.
Ah! A most welcome return.
ReplyDeleteCheers Martin, just needed to break the silence for now!
DeleteWelcome back C
ReplyDeleteThanks SA, as said above to CC and Khayem, very much admire you daily bloggers.
DeleteJust had news that I've now got to do some extra work on my current project so still a bit bogged down with that but hope I can get back into the blogging groove soon.
I echo the thoughts above, but really... blogging isn't everything. Those of us who publish every day should probably get a life!
ReplyDelete(To be fair, I tried. It wasn't for me.)
It's probably over-rated (getting a life, I mean, not blogging...)
DeleteWhat I would say, is, when you do get a day to yourself, forget about the blog or anything else that feels like a duty, because your only real duty is to yourself, recharging your batteries and making sure you don't burn out. xx
ReplyDeleteWell said, whoever you are!
DeleteThat's very kind, and wise - thank you, Anonymous! x
DeleteThanks Alyson, I completely echo what you say here. No idea how I managed to post so much in the past, nor how you did either given how busy you were too, but somehow we did. Momentum must be a key thing but I've lost that. I feel I need some time off from everything else - everything, not just work! - before I can get back in the writing saddle but that's not going to happen, so I'll just have to try a bit harder. Currently frustrated as thought I'd finished this long ob and would get some days off before the next one starts - but then the publisher asked me for some additional work! So back to it for now.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun, when it happens!
Your sentiments about wanting time off from 'everything' rings true here too, so totally get it. Our big contract seems to be going the same way as your one! Time for blogging when the time is right though, so no pressure at all.
ReplyDeleteHope your big contract all works out well for you, mine is at last nearly there. Getting itchy to blog again now!
