Covered up (part three)

A lovely trip to Leeds, a job to finish - it's all been a bit of a whirlwind here lately but, following on from my last post about how so much album cover artwork sticks in our long term memory, I thought it  time once again to test that out.  The catch of course is that there is the extra hardship of only seeing a small section...

So here you go - twenty more snippets from sleeves waiting to be identified - who are the artists and what are the album titles? You know you've seen those shoes in #2 before, don't you?  And those colours in #8, or that, erm, whatever it is in #18! But where?

Please feel free to leave your answers in the comments - the proof to be uncovered next Monday.

  1. Great stuff, C!

I recognise quite a few at first glance but, just to get the ball rolling, #1 is Sunday 8PM by Faithless.

    1. And as self-respecting (former) goth should know, 13 is Bauhaus with In The Flat Field

    2. And 4 is Sheryl Crow by Sheryl Crow

12 is bugging me. I know it but I just can’t place it!

    3. Yes, all correct Khayem. I was a little careful about where I placed the crop marks when I snipped that part from In The Flat Field!

    1. To be honest I think I'd be completely foxed by most of them if I came into it cold myself. It's so much easier when you've got the full picture in front of you but with so little to go on I would struggle.

    1. Sorry CC, it's not that one - I just compared that to the cover this comes from though and can see exactly why you thought that... very similar colours and shapes, and from similar era.

      Well done Ernie

    14. Every Picture Tells A Story - Rod Stewart
    20. Mona Bone Jakon - Cat Stevens

19 looks familiar but I can't place it.

    1. Plenty of time, no worries!

You're correct of course - as for 19, you have to look closely for a little hint about the album title - and as for the band the decorative design gives a clue to their origins.
