Sunshine

It's ok to talk about the weather!  I don't mind a bit.  So grateful to see the sun in its baby blue sky decorated with just a few whiter-than-white clouds with curly, luminescent upper edges.  Just back from a walk down to the Co-op and everyone looks uplifted.  The passing "hello"s with strangers have a new lightness to them, the brief chitchat with more familiar folk centres around the morning's brightness.  The sun, the sun, our old friend, awol for weeks... or is it months...? is here again and everyone is talking about the weather.  Predictable, yes, but who cares? - it's a place where we can all meet, never mind any other differences, a place of universal communion.  Sunshine, I love you!  Please stay awhile!

And here's one of my favourite songs on the subject...

The Gun: Sunshine

I hope it's sunny where you are too.

  1. Hate to say it but it's going to be a cold one tonight...

    1. Well, we knew it couldn't last and it was indeed very cold last night. But that momentous day yesterday will last long in our memories - something to tell the grandchildren, as they say!

  2. I concur. I said as much over at my place. The sun has the capacity to make the ordinary look anything but, don't you think?

    1. So true - as proved by your superb photos too. And the effect on people is the most obvious, much needed.

  3. Predictably, the first sniff of sunshine and I’m immediately reminded of this

    1. Yes, same here - looks like it's sleeting now, couldn't be much more different, it's shit. But oh, that sunshine serotonin hit yesterday brought a brief relief. And hopefully a promise.

  5. My grandmother refused to go into the Co-Op in case her neighbours thought she was a socialist, she she would send me in instead on the strict understanding that if caught I should say I was shopping for myself.

Good to get that off my chest at last.

    1. Ah, the Co-op - that hotbed of revolutionary socialism! Thank you for sharing your dark secret with us, Ernie. Good job your grandmother never met my paternal grandfather - he was a Communist!

  6. Our feathered friends were easily as pleased to see the sun as I was during my lengthy walk on Saturday - they were making a hell of a racket, it was wonderful. Cut to exactly 24 hours later when all plans for Sunday were snowed off! You couldn't make it up.

    1. Ah, even the birds were celebrating the sunshine! It's such a glorious sound, really lifts the heart. And then... yes, all change, back to where we were before and even colder. We were just being teased.

Still, I bet you had a super walk, and hope you took some photos?
