Get sett

Work's a bit on the heavy ticket at the mo; nine and ten-hour days, seven days a week (with occasional blog activity sponsored by Nescafe Fine Blend).  All the book illustrators I know frequently have similar experiences: long hours, tight deadlines and low pay, so we must be doing it for love.  Besides, in how many other jobs do you get to think about what a young badger might look like blowing up a balloon?!

  1. Now, this is something that has often set(t) me thinking: what *would* a young badger blowing up a balloon look like? Now I know - wonderful. Don't work too hard, C.

  2. Well that is a great drawing. Can't be many jobs where you have to visualize that.

  5. Thanks for kind words, lovely people, and I've got the coffee and matchsticks nearby and off to start another day!
Yve: yes isn't it always the way, too much time and no money or enough money (just!) and no time. Hope your work picks up again v soon and also that we both manage to get the one thing that seems impossible in our lines: balance!

  6. C - just a thought. What do you think a mole doing crochet would look like?
Or a weasel on roller skates? Oh we could go on forever!

The possibilities are endless! And should you ever think of writing an anthropomorphic story...

    1. Ah yes, I had a much loved Rupert annual too - can still remember my delight at those special 'magic' pictures which came to life when you put water on them!
